Is The Arch Angel Michael Also Jesus? Scriptually!

Angels sing to Jehovah

John 1:51 “

51 And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you,[a] you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

This is the time of year that many of us turn our attention to Jesus Christ.

Questions present themselves, one main one is:

Is Jesus Michael?

Please, let us start a conversation using the Bible only to get an answer.

The comment section below is the place to put your thoughts. Enjoy!

    Angels of death:
2Sam. 24:1-17 is interesting in how this angel was moving selectively and in order and was stopped at the doorstep by Jehovah, as he said, it is enough and the angel halted the plague. Angels obey Jehovah and they are powerful.
The Covid at times appear to have a brain or mind behind it. The King had sinned but 70,000 of the people died. If our leaders make a statement that they have never asked God for forgiveness for anything, it makes you fearful. Jehovah and Jesus appoint and takes down the leaders of this world!

Maybe if the leaders repent as David did we might get health from Jehovah and Jesus with this plague. Repentance of nations could just give us a break. This disease is out of control.

There are angels with assigned duties. Hopefully, this is not an angel of death on the world.

Michael is what the Bible says he is Arch-angel.

But Jesus is never as far as I can see ever put in the position of an angel. In revelation, he sent an angel to tell John his dear friend what Jehovah told him.

He is King, not a messenger.

Jesus is on the mind of all Christians now, but is he an angel or more to the point is He MICHAEL the archangel that fights with other angels to defeat satan in heaven in Revelation 12:?

There are conversations going on about this. We would like to know scripturally what the Bible teaches.

Is Jesus Michael the Arch Angel
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the archangel Michael was the very first being created by Jehovah-God. Michael was used by God to create all other things in the universe.
Later, at the appointed time, Michael was born to the virgin Mary as a human being, thus ceasing to be an angel. Then after His spiritual resurrection, Jesus resumed His identity as Michael. Therefore, Michael is another name for Jesus Christ, before and after His life on earth.
One of the Scriptures used to show this is in Daniel:
The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia…. But I will tell you what is inscribed in the book of truth: there is none who contends by my side against these except Michael, your prince. (Dan. 10:13, 21)
At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. (Dan. 12:1)
From there they go to Isaiah:
For to us a child is born,
      to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
      Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa. 9:6)
First, Daniel 10 and 12 make no explicit reference to Jesus. He’s just not there in the text. This has to be read into the text.
Second, Michael is not called the chief prince. He is called one of the chief princes. There is a group of chief princes, and Michael is one among that group. Conversely, Jesus is absolutely unique. He is not one among many; rather, He is one-of-a-kind. Jesus is the “King of kings and the Lord of lords” (Rev. 19:16), who created all the angelic host (Col. 1:16). He is God’s only Son (John 3:16).
Third, there is no connection between Isa. 9:6, and Dan. 10 and 12 to justify the conclusion that Jesus is Michael. True, Michael and Jesus are both referred to as princes. But, so what? A lot of people in the Bible are called “princes.”
Next we go to the book of Hebrews Chapters 1 – 3
Hebrews1:1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs
. 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
      “You are my Son;
today I have become your Father”[a]?
      Or again,
      “I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son”[b]?
6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God’s angels worship him.”[c]

In verse 6, we are told the angels worship Jesus. How could a created being receive worship? A created being cannot receive worship. In fact, when the apostle John fell down at an angel’s feet to worship him, the angel said, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God” (Rev. 19:10).

13 To which of the angels did God ever say,
      “Sit at my right hand
      until I make your enemies
      a footstool for your feet”[g]?
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
2: 5 It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6 But there is a place where someone has testified:
“What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
a son of man that you care for him?
      7 You made them a little[a] lower than the angels;
you crowned them with glory and honor
8 and put everything under their feet.”[b][c]

] 9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
It is clear from the Book of Hebrews that Christ was not an Angel!
Michael the archangel is perhaps the highest of all the angels. Michael is the only angel in the Bible who is designated “the archangel” (Jude verse 9). Michael the archangel, though, is only an angel. He is not God or the Only begotten Son of God. The clear distinction in the power and authority of Michael and Jesus can be seen in comparing Matthew 4:10 where Jesus rebukes Satan, and Jude verse 9, where Michael the archangel “dared not bring a judgment of blasphemy” against Satan and calls on the Lord to rebuke him. Michael the archangel is a powerful angel, but still only an angel.
      Colossians 2:9 states:
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (or as the NWT puts it “a god”.
Whether you accept the Trinity as taught by most Christian Churches or not, to me it is plain that Christ is more than as angel. He is the son of God! Just as my son is human, so Christ himself is in the form of deity. My son was not created, he was begotten by me, so to Jesus was begotten by the Father. He was not a created angel.
Further arguments are presented at: http://www.apologeticspress.org/APContent.aspx?category=10&article=1473
Michael the archangel is mentioned only five times in the Bible (Daniel 10:13,21; 12:1; Jude 9; Revelation 12:7), and yet never do these passages indicate that he is to be equated with the preincarnate Christ, nor with the ascended Jesus. First Thessalonians 4:16 also alludes to “an archangel,” and, although the name Michael is not mentioned, this is the passage Jehovah’s Witnesses frequently cite as proof of Jesus being the archangel. Concerning the Second Coming of Christ, Paul wrote: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first” (emp. added). Supposedly, since Jesus is described as descending from heaven “with the voice of an archangel,” then He must be the archangel Michael. However, this verse does not teach that Jesus is an archangel, but that at His Second Coming He will be accompanied “with the voice of an archangel.” Just as He will be attended “with a shout” and “with the trumpet of God,” so will He be accompanied “with the voice of an archangel.” Question: If Jesus’ descension from heaven “with the voice of an archangel” makes Him (as Jehovah’s Witnesses claim)
the archangel Michael, then does His descent “with the trumpet of God” not also make Him God? Jehovah’s Witnesses reject this latter conclusion, yet they accept the first. Such inconsistency is one proof of their erroneous teachings about Jesus.
One final proof that Jesus is not Michael the archangel actually comes from one of the five passages in which Michael’s name is found in Scripture—Jude 9. According to Jude: “Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’ ” Whereas Michael would not dare pronounce a railing judgment against the devil (cf. 2 Peter 2:11), Jesus once declared about Satan: “He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44). Jesus did not approach the subject of rebuking Satan with the same hesitation as godly angels like Michael. Jesus, as Lord of heaven and Earth (Matthew 28:18), boldly called the devil a murderer and liar, and even went so far as to declare that “there is no truth in him.” The Son of God obviously is not Michael the archangel.

So from the Scriptural evidence presented here I have reached the conclusion that our Lord is exactly what the Bible says he is- The ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, not a created Angel. Any other conclusion requires adding supposition and unfounded conclusion. I prefer plain Scripture! No where in Scripture is Jesus called Michael or even that he is an Angel!

TedR, thanks. We have welcomed attendees on Thursday night Bible Fellowship and Saturday Night Support Group. It has been a blessing as their backgrounds are diverse, non witness and gives us the opportunity to go into the Bible and see what it teaches and not what organized religious dogma is.
Also, I see that Michael stood up for the Jews because they were in tribulation or distress in Daniel 12. I think I see the Holocaust mentioned in the Bible right before they went back HOME.
We know they were in the holocaust it killed 1 in 3 Jews in the world! There was a rescue of them at that time. Jesus will not only rescue but sit down on the throne of Israel here on earth.

(If Michael the archangel is Jesus then this is a problem for those believing in the trinity for an angel would be equal to God.)

The word begotten has always meant BIRTH. Jesus was not a created being but borne of God. He was also the only son BORNE, Begotten of a woman by God. He is unique as you say.
        He created Michael.
The governing body has to dumb Jesus down so they can be the one that God speaks through along with this angel, a little higher than man. They have a problem with Jesus being God, of the same substance as Jehovah as I am human and my Mom and Dad are human. Dogs are dogs and cats are cats not a cat or a dog.
Jesus is God, although not the Supreme GOD JEHOVAH.
Jesus is worshipped as you stated. You CANNOT worship an angel!
Perhaps the governing body of the watchtower should take another look in the Bible and not accept what Charles Russell saw as he could only speak what he saw.
Now so much more is available by the revealing of the Holy Spirit.
Russell never saw the holocaust coming! He put everything at the end of the age but a lot in Daniel and revelation happens before the end.
In Revelation John saw our world wars and our helicopters and airplanes, germ warfare, submarines, navy seals, and armies in trenches advancing in our modern chariots of tanks which appear to have fire coming out of their mouths.
Russell couldn’t understand a helicopter looking like locusts coming up out of the abyss dropping napalm.
Nor could he know about the A-bomb of Hiroshima that would identify the beast as the United States that no one could do battle with when they revealed their bombs.
We have seen this and can better understand Daniel and Revelation.

We have been able to identify the end better as ISRAEL IS NOW BACK HOME!

(Amos 9:14-15; Isaiah 11:11; Ezekiel 20:34) There’s no nation ever that was out of existence for 1900 years and came back. They even have the same capital (Jerusalem) and speak Hebrew which was an extinct language. You may doubt God exists but you can’t doubt Israel exists. The God of Israel is real!
